Europe

Mon Aug 17, 2009, 4:14 PM
  • Mood: Exhilarated
  • Reading: A Spy in the House of Love, by Anias Nin
  • Drinking: Coffee
Guess who's back from Europe! All I can say is "Wow"! What an eyeopening experience! All of the culture and the history alongside the subculture and social issues... I don't feel like who I was anymore - I feel more like who I am. I feel like there's hope; I feel like there's more beyond these shores; I feel like there's a reason for me to suffer through and find my way off of this godforsaken rock.

This all sounds very romantic and idealistic, but I suppose you'd have to understand how unbelievably insufferable this island is, and how amazingly freeing it is to be able to hop on a train or cheap flight to where ever you damn well want after years and years of watching the ships in the harbour come and go without you. To have someone look at you and see an individual, rather than who your parents are or what pissant community you hail from. To look and see faces that have nothing in common with each other, rather than the same traits face after face. It was refreshing and liberating and wonderful. If not for the one person worth coming back here for, I would have petitioned to stay.

But here I am, and I've got one year left here before I can leave without looking back. But at least now I know that there is something worth looking forward to.

Love from a newly hopeful iampeaches,
Leahdawn

The pleasure was all mine. I actually collect beach glass, so a beach consisting entirely of glass simply blew my mind!
